About Rocky Mountain Power

Rocky Mountain Power serves nearly a million customers in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho with safe, reliable electricity, and is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. Rocky Mountain Power works to meet growing energy demand while protecting the environment and plans for the future by developing renewable energy and regional transmission projects.

As part of PacifiCorp, the company generates 9,286 megawatts of power from thermal, hydro, wind and geothermal facilities. PacifiCorp is part of MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, and also operates Pacific Power in Oregon, Washington and California.

PacifiCorp’s 2007 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) identified the need for more transmission lines to deliver electricity from new generating resources - either from new generating plants, or to provide a path for additional energy purchases from other entities in the region. Published every two years, the IRP provides a framework and plan for the prudent future actions necessary to ensure PacifiCorp continues to meet customer demand and provide reliable, low-cost electricity to customers throughout its six-state service area. Over the next 10 years, the company will make significant additions to its transmission system.
